Just a quick question for any webwiz forum owners. I'm curious to know who has the most posts on their forum among all the webwiz forum owners, or who has ever heard of the most posts on a WW forum. At avianflutalk.com after 7 1/2 years we're up to 5000 members and currently have 178,000 posts in 22,000 topics.
Or please feel free to share the stats on your forum.
Best,
Albert

We use to host a Web Wiz Forums on our network before the owner finally called it a day and closed the forum that had just under 6 million posts.
Near the bottom of the page below are some links to some Web Wiz Forums hosted on the Web Wiz network some with over 1 million posts:-

wow. Those are the largest numbers I've seen on a forum. at least I have one of them beat, lol. I also see that my web design guy got inspired on our skin colors by one of them, except he's still using the blue buttons.
Anyway, thanks for the links. Those forums are very impressive, to say the least. I suppose I will have to wait for an avian flu pandemic or SARS pandemic to take the title.

Keeping in mind that although a forum may state "8,808 members", many of those will be those who have come and gone, joined to look around, then lost interest, those who got mad, took their toys and went home, spammers who signed up years ago and have not actually posted (yeah, I need to clean-up a bit and remove some members), but still for a forum like ours that relates 100% to an orphan car company that was absorbed and dismantled by Chrysler Corp decades ago, and whose last car ran off the assembly line in 1988 to have thousands of members - it's a big thing for us. It also boggles my mind that Bruce has kept this forum software safe/secure, and relatively fast, too. It just plain works. The hosting is excellent, too. It's so rare to not be able to access our forum, I almost freak out if it does happen! If you run a forum, and work with a SQL back end, this is where you need to host. I've had my fill of "cheap" or free - and when I compare costs to what I get - benefits, the cheap isn't all that cheap. Some of the others also allow "anything and everything that's not blatantly illegal" on their servers, and I refuse to support such hosts. I really really like this forum software and will be like a lost puppy if they ever stop development - like a man with no country or home, I shudder to think of having to step backwards to anything else. And I'm considering moving my own personal sites to this hosting as well - once I compare costs, which I suspect will be nearly a wash. My son works for one of the largest media companies in the states - they constantly have "security issues" on their servers and sites. I was appalled. Last time I notified him of some bad ads and redirects on one of their sites, he passed the info up the chain of command and was told "yeah, we know, we fight this a lot" and I'm thinking to myself - stop fighting it a start PREVENTING it.
Anyway, fun stats - to see how many posts different sites like us have.

One of my websites is currently:
Our users have posted 251,078 Posts in 21,871 Topics in 68 Forum(s)
We have 3,699 Forum Members |
Mine has been purged of old posts / members over the years when I've been forced to save space in the database.
I would love to hear what the database sizes are in relation to these stats though, I always find those more interesting.

If you are using 'Text' datatype for the tblThread.Message field then you will typically use around 650MB for each 500,000 posts.
If you are using 'nText' datatype for the tblThread.Message field then you will typically use around 1GB for each 500,000 posts.
Apart from Private Messages the rest of the data stored uses very little space at all.

Now my database is 1.2GB (ver9.68, after shrink). There is a problem when I tried to upgrade it to ver10.15. Is it because the database is too big? Anyone has the same problem when the database is too big?
Following is the error message that I have got:
