	It sounds like you may have multiple services installed on the same server which are all in contention when the server starts. It maybe worth going through the services that auto start with the server and adding a delayed start on to some. Maybe a 10 second delayed start for SQL Server will prevent the contention.

	In the end, I just brought a new server online. I didn't have anymore time to invest in troubleshooting. The new server seems to be running without a hitch. thanks again, Eric
