Spybot was on that list that I mentioned in the post. Think it should be removed?

borg - I've got a similar situation now where I'm trying to get support from an author. His product is ok, but he regularly blows off support emails and deletes posts in his forums, which are pre-moderated.

I use it and I like it. It's a little too powerful if you go past the basics. It even has some clean sweep type features and it's free. I've never had trouble with it.

Spybot is great.. I use it all the time with no probs. I have recently been looking at ewido spyware , which is now made by the same people who do AVG. So I assume it must be good ?

Plesk needs to be added to the sh*tware list... the Plesk control panel is the worst control panel ever!!!! Ive spent every day this week fixing domains that got all screwed up because of random plesk f**k ups and its driving me nuts. Plesk doesnt manage IIS, FTP, or file permissions worth sh*t and just to fix them you have to delete the domain and you still have to setup IIS manually.

I never use control panels except when I'm helping someone with their site that they've got hosted. And I've never used Plesk, so I really don't know much about it.

But from my own experience, I'd put the whole category of web site control panels in there. At some point you always need to get down and dirty with the OS tools, which I presume is what the control panel is there to avoid...

Go ahead and post it though!

If you do get it going, let me know. We should link all these sites together as a kind of "rant network".

I've got "thehatesite.com" setup as a blog site, and I'd like to get a few people together to blog rants on stupid things that they hate. e.g. I hate that when you get to an airport in the US, there are no bloody clocks or information booths outside the secure area. Man - does that ever burn me after a 14 hour flight...

If anyone wants to help blog about dumb stuff that they hate, let me know. I'd like to get a few people on board to launch the site.

Oh, by the way... Did I mention that Panasonic Sucks?

On another note, I've gotten some criticism for sh*tware.net. I really think those people just don't get it, and are probably the kind of developers that will end up with their products on there at some point because they're just not willing to try and understand people very well. If you read what people rant about, you can get an idea about why people are angry and upset. Take that information and do everything you can to avoid those situations, and you've got a great resource. It takes more effort to read though as you have to try to understand people and their problems. You can't just be a lazy reader and get anything valuable out of it.

Cheers,

Ryan
