Okay
So your version is 9.06 but obviously the headers that you have downloaded are not version 9.06? Hang on a mo

The header was a modification of the 9.06 version

Right, I have compared the includes/header.asp files on both 9.06 and 9.50 systems, and both are IDENTICAL. Now assuming that was the ONLY file that you have changed and modified, then uploading only a new 9.50 includes/header.asp file should sort the problem
Of course if you modified anything else then there may be problems

I went through much grief upgrading to 9.06, but as far as I can tell, I don't need to do any of those things to upgrade from 9.06 to 9.50.
I DID only change the header.asp file, but I've replaced it with back-ups (tried two or three) and still nothing but the message mentioned before.
I have a large collection of uploads and images that my forum users have uploaded and of course I've modified the footer.asp file before all this began. Can I just upload the 9.50 file that I want over the old 9.06 ones with any hope of curing the problem?

The 9.50 file is IDENTICAL to the 9.06 file. In theory, uploading a fresh untouched version of that file should cure your problem. I would back up your footer file that you have changed too, and just upload a new header and footer file. If your problem only started with this header file, which you say it did, then logically it must be the issue that is giving you this problem now. Obviously, however, if it does not work, because it is a paid for version, you could then open a support ticket with web wiz and ask for support which is why you probably paid for the forum version!
Hope it works I'll be back in 20 minutes or so, but you can perhaps catch me on my forum too if not

I changed to other versions of my header.asp file. In fact, I've tried uploading MOST of the web wiz files from my backups, but no change. I'm starting to wonder if something could have happened to the server while/when I was working on the pages, but that seems like quite a coincidence.
I'll see if I can find how to open a support ticket.

Interesting note. I tried feeding this url into my browser http://forums.homestead.org/includes/header.asp
What I got was the header file with no problems, so I'm wondering if it could be another file that's at fault, but which one?

I assume that you would have paid for support? Obviously Bruce is a really helpful guy so I expect it can be sorted. If you have a licence key, then I would maybe consider upgrading to version 9.50 Your paid for version should give you access to the client area

Perhaps this one: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126'
Include file not found
/common.asp, line 249
The include file 'admin/SQL_server_connection.asp' was not found.
