Topic: Web Wiz Rich Text Editor ver 3.0 released Posted: 09 March 2005 at 7:41am |
Web Wiz Rich Text Editor
version 3.0 has been released today. This latest version makes
integration into your own web forms much simpler as well as adding a
‘Paste From Word’ Tool using WordTidy™ Technology.
This new version on the surface, except for the 'Paste from Word'
tool, looks identical to version 2.0, but underneath I have re-written
the code to make it much simpler to integrate the Web Wiz Rich Text
Editor into your own forms.
The latest version allows you to take any HTML textarea and with
just 4 lines of code turn it into a WYSIWYG Editor. Well at least
that's the theory.
You can download the new version at:-

An on-line demo version can be seen at:-

The editor in Web Wiz Forums is totally integrated into the
application, so much so it is actually part of the application rather
than an add-on module, so would be a very difficult task.
Due to forum permissions and having to make other alterations to the
RTE it took me around 12 hours to integrate the Web Wiz RTE version 3
into Web Wiz Forums, having to make a custom version for the forum,
which is why the version number for the web wiz forums version 8 is Web
Wiz RTE version 3.0wwf.
The RTE version 3 is completly different to version 2, and the simplest way is to start again as all files have been changed.

Thanks for the response.
But then I already have launced my Discussion forum, and have gathered many members. Now if I need to upgrade to RTE 3.0, then I will have to again download WWF V.8.0
In that case will I get a chance to upgrade WWF 7.9 to WWF 8.0
Bye

WWF version 8 is not yet complete and probally won't be even ready for a beta release for quite some time yet.
For the moment you will have to either live with the current editor in
web wiz forums or, if you are very good with ASP and have allot of time
on your hands, try and integrate version 3 of web wiz RTE into your
copy of web wiz forums.

Any hints from you would be helpful.... just need an idea on where to start and what files to edit or replace.
