Topic: v10 Development Posted: 20 November 2008 at 8:41am |
Hi Bruce,
Just wondered if you had any updates with the development of v10?
I'd like to expand my site with blogging etc, but not sure if v10 will fulfill my needs, or I should look at using NewsPad.
PS - If you'd like someone to alpha / beta test, I'd be happy to help...just drop me a PM.
Cheers,
Oli

Version 10 is still in development as the blogging tools are taking quite a while to develop.
NewsPad is an eNewsletter software for eNewsletters and mail campaigns and not really a blogging tool. If you want to use NewsPad as a blogging tool you maybe disappointed.

When I say blogging, I didn't really mean blogging...I don't know what I mean to be honest.
With the blogging in v10, do you have any plans for people to subscribe to them, and allow the blogs to be used a front page for a site?
For example, at the moment I just run a forum, with no front page to my site. I'm toying with the idea of using NewsPad as both the front page to my site (latest news etc), and obviously an eNewsletter as well. However, if v10 allows me to have blog posts as a main page, I may wait for it to be completed.
I know many people have asked, and it's difficult to answer, but do you have any rough SLA on a beta release of v10? I'm interested to see what the features offer, and how they work, to allow me to decide on which route to take my site down.
Cheers!

For what you want it sounds like you would be better off using NewsPad as the blogging tools would be like a subset to the forums with members able to create their own blogs available through there forum profiles.
There is no ETA on when version 10 will be finished as the high number of support questions that come in leave only a few hours spare to get any development work done, which throws any schedule out the window.

Hmm, not sure now. I suppose I could use my blog from the forum, as the main page of the site, which would give me the same as using NewsPad.
Not sure what do to now.
EDIT - Any discount off NewsPad for a long term WWF user (since 2002, and paid since July 2007), to help me sway my decision ?

From the sounds of what you are doing it sounds like you are looking for more of an online news page that users can subscribe to. This is exactly what NewsPad is for.
Discounts unless offered to all are not really discussed on public forums as I am sure you can understand, so best of contacting accounts.

If you would like to display news on your homepage then I could provide you with a portal styled page which would list all topics in a forum (eg you select a News Forum which you will be posting in)
Your members could subscribe via the built-in RSS and "Watch This Topic".
If your interested send me a PM.
