You certainly can.. I installed the sofware and installed within VPC and it worked ok. I think the official MS answer is that you cannot..

MS is never going to openly support linux and have linux distros offically supported so VMware is better for me!

5.5 beta is great.

Linux works fine in VPC.. I have been running Suse no problem.

Anyone know if Mac OS will work. I dont think so because VPC is PC technology (Intel) anyone know differently ?

There is a version of OSX for x86 floating around that runs on VMWare. The virtual OS X isn't very fast on a 2.8ghz P4, but it does run.

We use MS Virtual server at work, it's very slick but VMWare does perform better on any kind of disk access. Copying files to/from a virtual machine running VMWare is always faster than in a VPC machine in the tests I've run.

VMWare has another advantage - they have a free "player" that allows you to run any VMWare virtual machine.

speaking of windows within windows... have any of you guys ever used radmin? its a fantastic tech-support tool that we use at my work. basically lets you commandeer the computer of your choice (as long as they have the software installed, and have the correct port open and don't have your ip screened)... anyway... never open a radmin connection from comp1 to comp2 then accidentally (or otherwise) open a connection from comp2 to comp1... it gets UGLYLOL
