I am glad that Microsoft decided to make the Visual Studio Express Editions free for one year. You just need to register and you get a key... Beats $49 for the retail box....

Yes! And we actually get them free forever - whoever downloads them in that first year, at least that is my understanding.

Yeah, thus I am sure they are hoping you get hooked and eventually upgrade to VS Pro or so.

So far I haven't been very convinced that Visual Studio is necessary for web development. Are you aware of any fancy features an average programmer would use?

So far I am not very convinced that I need the full Visual Studio project. But one note. I had my fully developed code ready to go from VWD Beta 2, but when I pulled it up in the final release, it went nuts on me, giving me tons of instances of "NameofSomething" is not a member of ASP.nameofpage_aspx. This page assisted me in discovering the answer. Appears they didn't like the name of my code-behind inherit.

I have installed VB 2005 Express and it looks pretty cool.  I only recently started learning the 2003 stuff and now I have to relearn 2005
