Topic: what are the destiny of my domains? Posted: 14 July 2004 at 8:06am |
first, i banned the company name, so if there were a mistake it won't be a problem for them.
I woke up on an email i though it was a spam saying:
Dear customer,
Thanks for coming ********* Customer Care!
Please be kindly informed that your account was suspented for the “charge back”. Therefore, if you want to unsuspend the account, the charge back funds should first be returned. And other $20 processing fee will be chareged as compensation for each charge back. Please check, we are waiting for your reply!

I am a customer with then for more then 2 years, and registered more than 170 domains, I thought there was a mistake, but I found my account SUSPENED... so, i mailed them asking for more, they replied.
Dear customer,
Thanks for contacting ******** Customer Care!
Please be kindly informed that after checking, four times of "charge back are found in your account (Feb 2nd,2004 $25.00; July 31th,2004 $80; Jua 5th,2004 $25.00; Apr 29th,2004 $25.00.) Therefore, you should pay the processing fee $80 for the domains ($20 for each) by "banking transfer". Only after receiving the funds, the account could be unsuspended here. Hope you could understand.

I contacted them, first to ask about this wierd : July 31th,2004 $80 I think we aren't yet 31 July 2004 he apologized saying it is July 31th,2002 and not 2004 the date I opened the account with them I think. The 80 i paid 2 years ago, they are asking me to pay again + $20 fees. + 3 other payment each for $25
NOW NOW NOW, and what is important... I have all the credit reports of my payment to them, I have all the credit cards used in the processes (unless they are expired and renewed)...
What shall I do.. My account is suspended,,, they ask for >$250 to unsuspend it.
what are the destiny of my domains if I refused to pay???

If you are listed on the whois, you can transfer the domains somewhere else. You'd still need to get access to the site however to transfer data bases, etc.
Usually a chargeback is incurred if someone contests a credit card charge. Yhe money is refunded to the card holder and debited from the billing organization. Sound like they're saying you got the money back from them and they want it plus some fees.

I think if your claims are right, then you can report the matter to the registrar of domain about this giving all the details. who may take a suitable action against him. I think this is possible, though I have not tried yet.

They are the ICANN registrar of the domain.

It's a little late now, but in the future, never use your web host as your registrar. To many horror stories out there about domains being held for ransom. If you are listed as the admin, tech, or billing contact, you can transfer the domain. If they're listed as all three - it's their domain, not yours.
With 170 domains, are you set up as a reseller? If you're looking to move to another host as a reseller, MatrixReseller/Vortech and CrystalTech are two excellent ones. Been using Vortech and have been extremely pleased. Best host I've found in 10 years as a reseller. Haven't used CrystalTech but several people I respect swear by them.

I'm a reseller, but they have the ability to control all the domains under my control panel.
I'm the registrar and administartor and billing info in my email, i meant they are the domain registrar... but they have control over the domains.
