Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_db_connection
File Name:- common.asp

i have had a similar problem but with the mail functions, hosting company (fasthosts) had changed settings and not told anyone, you could try asking your host and see if they have made changes.

well it came back up on it's own but it's doing all kinds of other strange stuff now. For example, when I get a private message the alert window comes up over and over again until you hit cancel. Today I'm having trouble staying logged into my forum, it works fine on this forum.

Is there some kind of repair install I can do maybe? I don't want to lose any of the data.

Reupload all the files. You might have a corrupt file.

It seems there have been a couple updates since I installed the forum. I'm currently running 8.02 and it looks like 8.04 is out. There do not appear to be any upgrade instructions though, just clean install. I'm just worried about the setup script dropping any exiting tables and creating new ones.

Is there anywhere I can get some additional info on performing an update instead of a clean install?

well I replaced all the files on the server with new copies I downloaded from here and then just copied over my database settings and that all seemed to go ok. The admin control panel now shows version 8.04.

The problem is the forum is still acting wierd. I still can't stay logged in for more then a minute or two. If I try to delete a post I get logged out and the post is not deleted. It seems to be a problem with the cookie, it never remembers my login anymore. Also it shows a session variable in the querystring now which it never needed before.

I also tried it on my laptop and I was having the same kind of problems. Anyone got any ideas? This is all very strange.

Like Landlord-Forum said, I'd contact your host to see if they've made any changes to their server settings etc.
